5 Ways to Reduce Stress at Work

It isn’t every day that you wake up ready to tackle the day ahead. Sometimes it is hard to get out of bed, drink the coffee and head into work. Once you are there, you feel overwhelmed and stressed. Many employees find themselves carrying the burden of their workload on their own.

We understand tackling more than one project at a time and we want to make sure that our employees are well equipped to take on tasks. To ensure that our team stays stress-free at work, we follow these 5 tips on reducing stress in the workplace.

Stay Hydrated

Everyone says it. Everyone does it. But, how much water should you really be drinking a day? There isn’t a set amount that we recommend to drink, but you should drink water whenever you feel thirsty. Don’t force yourself to drink more than your body needs. Water is crucial to our health and we make sure the refrigerator is stocked with an endless supply of water. It is important to stay hydrated while at work. In the hustle and bustle of the day, it’s easy to get busy and forget.

Rest Up

This is one that we have heard since grade school. In order to rise early, you must go to sleep early. The average adult needs seven hours to function properly during the day. Go to sleep at a set time every night and make sure that you keep up this routine. Our bodies love a routine and steering from it can cause stress.

Exercise

Exercising is a great way to stay in shape and relieve stress. Whenever you exercise your body produces “happy” endorphins that help bring your stress levels down. Choose exercises that are non-competitive but fulfilling. During your exercise session be sure to set goals, not deadlines. Pick something that works for you and stick to it.

Stand Up

Sitting down at your desk for an extended amount of time can cause physical stress to your body. Your body can become stiff and strained from sitting too long. Be sure to stand up and walk around the office every other hour. Take a walk and grab a bottle of water to go with our top tip on reducing stress.

Stress Less

Work can be stressful on the body and mind. There are things that we take on in our day to day life that can be strenuous and unnecessary. Identify the things that cause you to stress during the day and figure out the easiest solution to these stressors. Many people take on more than they can handle, not realizing the added stress put on their body.

Be sure to listen to your body. It will tell you whenever you are in over your head and if you need to take a step back from a situation. Don’t forget to talk to your friends, family, and co-workers. Don’t exclude the ones that are close to you in your life. They might be able to help you through a stressor if you can’t tackle it on your own.
